Providing Physical Rehabilitation Services to Adults and Children Equally Benefiting the Insured, Underinsured, and Uninsured
Latest News(back to news main) The stars of Telethon 2006:Jacob Vance - 2005-2006 Poster Child Jacob Vance was born with Spondyl Costal Dystosis, a genetic birth defect affecting his bone structure and his organs. His left side is missing ribs and his shoulder is connected to his neck. Some organs function, but are developed differently. When Jacob was a newborn doctors said he would need major surgery to be able to grow. He began physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and developmental therapy as well as a nutritionist to help with his diet. He still receives physical therapy but has progressed to age appropriate levels in other areas. We believe that therapy has prevented major, life- threatening surgeries. Jacob has grown from crying through most of his therapy to entertaining himself while Helen manipulates him. As time goes on, we hope that Jacob continues to grow and that with the help of Helen, the major surgeries will be prolonged or prevented. (back to news main) |
